Salman Khan attempts to liberate Sarabjit Singh.
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has set up an online request in an attempt to liberate Sarabjit Singh, an Indian on cellblock in Pakistan.
On Friday, in an emotional tweet the star, appealed to the citizens of Pakistan to back him up in his attempts to free Sarabjit.
“To people from all over the world. Thanx for your support. Sign the online petition in support of Sarabjit’s release…www.facebook.com/BeingHumanOnline,” tweeted Salman Khan on Saturday.
“Requesting the people of Pakistan to support me to help free Sarabjit, who has been in prison since 30 yrs. Please. Allah ka vasta (for god’s sake),” Salman Khan tweeted.
“Request the awam (people) of Pakistan, members of the press, Govt of Pakistan, President (Asif Ali Zardari) Zardari, a humble request. It would be the most amazing gesture to send Sarabjit back to his family after 30 years. Hope you support me like it’s your own cause,” he added.
Hours after reports came up that Pakistan was to release Sarabjit Singh, the officials clarified that another Indian prisoner named Surjeet Singh, who has been in jail for three decades, would be freed instead. The change of stance created a stir across India.
Salman Khan was disturbed after he saw Sarabjit’s family in desperation.
“I saw a picture of Sarabjit’s sister, it killed me. Felt real sad for her. Help me, help her,” he tweeted further.
Support me to help free Sarabjit, Salman urges Pakistanis.
Thousands rally around him to show support for Sarabjit’s release from Pakistan.
