Kareena Kapoor actress of the forthcoming film ‘Heroine’ states she is not trying out to replicate anybody in her film, the first preview of which has evoked inescapable comparisons with Vidya Balan’s look in The Dirty Picture.
Kareena and Heroine director Madhur Bhandarkar insisted no comparisons must be made. In a way both films strike at the similar subject – the fate, rise and fall of an actress.
Kareena said at the trailer launch on Wednesday evening, “I am not getting into anybody’s shoes. I am very comfortable in my own and I would say that no one will get into mine either.
She further added that Heroine has nothing similar to The Dirty Picture, and that it is “unfair” to compare the two.
“I liked The Dirty Picture. The film was regarding the rise of an item girl in the 1980s. Our film is more contemporary in its approach. The two films are very different and you cannot compare them,” said Bhandarkar, Indicating the difference between the two films.
“There have been so many films based on underworld. Also lots of cop films have come like Singham and Dabangg, but no one compares them. Then why are people comparing these two films,” he said.
Arjun Rampal is also a part of the film Heroine, and is scheduled to releaseĀ on 21st Sep.
